Onward forever! – Swami Vivekananda Ji

Swami Vivekananda, as I understood him, an embodiment of strength and knowledge with an aim to serve the poor, the needy and the downtrodden. He was a Mahayogi means a great yogi with mysticism and love for all. Even the westerners accepted him and loved him like their own son.

Swami Ji’s life is an inspiration for everyone but for the youth of our nation his life is an institution to learn, his essence of religion was strength and he loved the young souls, powerful and fearless!! more than anybody else.

But, when we worship Swami Ji or when we look at his life, we often do not go through his hardships that he experienced as a local Naren of Mukherjee street. Swami Ji had a very painful journey with many bad experiences at a very little age of twenty two when his father passed away.

Family of ten with full of grief and sorrow was dependent on him and he had no work at that time. Once when he was working as a teacher in a school, one of his fellow teachers with envy said to the students to complain about Swami Ji that he was not good at teaching. It is an irony that Swami Ji had to leave teaching.

During the world’s parliament of religions in the Chicago when Swami Ji was asked to give his credentials to be a delegate, John henry Wright of Harvard university who gave him all the necessary assistance; he introduced Swami Ji as superbly qualified delegate, one “who is more learned than all our learned professors put together”, and who was like the sun, with no need of credentials in order to shine.

Swami Ji’s life is an inspiration for everyone but for the youth of our nation his life is an institution to learn, his essence of religion was strength and he loved the young souls, powerful and fearless!! more than anybody else.

READ  A Balanced Life

Swami Ji wrote to his disciples in Madras which was later published in Complete works volume 3:
Young men of Madras, my hope is in you. Will you respond to the call of your nation? Each one of you has a glorious future, if you dare believe me. Have a tremendous faith I yourselves, like the faith I had when I was a child, and which I am working out now. Have that faith, each on of you in yourself – that eternal power is lodged in every soul – and you will revive the whole of India. Ay, we will then go to every country under the sun, and our ideas will before long be a component of the many forces that are working to make up every nation in the world. We must enter into the life of every race in India and abroad; we shall have to work to bring this about. Now for that, I want young men. “It is the young, the strong, the healthy of sharp intellect that will reach the Lord; say the vedas.”
